Background
Celeste Rosfield originally hailed from Gridania to Viera parents, Ethan Rosfield and Asteria Starfall. Ethan Rosfield was an adventurer and world traveler in his youth, and soon became an Adder soldier. He took part in Gridanian defense as well as the defense against the Garleans at Baelsar’s Wall. His wife, Asteria Starfall, worked in the markets as a merchant, where she assisted in selling herbs and making medicine. Ethan was described as a determined man and a committed soldier. Asteria was known to be a quiet presence amongst the other merchants at the markets, and not much was known of her past. She was also said to have been friendly, but a little secretive and reserved. The two met when Asteria had just moved in search of work. Ethan was an immense help to her and helped her get started in the markets. He fell in love with her and they both wed soon after.Celeste was born shortly after they wed. For a while they were a seemingly happy family and led a peaceful life. Though they weren’t wealthy in the least, they lived comfortably. Celeste grew up a very active child and her father discovered that the girl had a knack for combat. After numerous trial runs, Ethan discovered that Celeste chief strength laid in swordsmanship and sought to hone her skill with a blade; training her in the ways of the gladiator. During their sparring sessions, Ethan would often tell her all about his adventures and Eorzean history; including the Garlean threat and the Eorzean effort to neutralize it. As Celeste got older, she wanted to become like her father and help defend Eorzea from the Garleans as well as any other threat.Unfortunately, soon after Celeste turned 13, her father lost his life during a mission. Her mother became more estranged and quickly gave up her life in Gridania to marry Alban rem Cassius, an imperial soldier she had fallen in love with. The soldier was of Garlean descent and was a commander of cohorts. They had secretly met at Baelsar’s Wall, and after a short while, Alban proposed to Asteria, promising her a more comfortable life in the Garlean Empire. She accepted and she, alongside with Alban secretly moved back to Ilsabard, taking Celeste with them to start their new life despite her protests. Celeste felt betrayed by her mother’s actions and was angry at the fact that she so easily sided with what she believed to be the enemy. But her complaints did nothing but fall on deaf ears.After relocating to Ilsabard, Celeste was forced to adopt Alban’s surname and tensions arose in the household between Celeste and her stepfather. Though their relationship was rocky, Alban recognized Celeste natural prowess as a swordsman and felt that she would be a good soldier. He made sure Celeste was conscripted into the imperial army as soon as she was of age. At the age of 18, Celeste was conscripted into the Imperial army and served as a soldier for the next two years. Shortly after her 20th nameday, she found an opportunity to escape. It took her a few months until she was able to set foot onto Eorzea once more, and a few months later, the Calamity occurred. She remained in Gridania for a while to help rebuild and eventually decided to join the Adventurer’s Guild. Since then, Celeste has traveled around by herself as an adventurer. During this time, she traveled far and wide.

• Although her stepdad sent search parties after Celeste escaped, the commander's reputation was far too tarnished and he along with his wife were executed not long after.• Celeste continued adoption of her stepfather's surname and her switch to samurai before Heavensward was due to feelings of unworthiness due to her upbringing in Garlemald. Having moved past this in ShB, she would later readopt her birth surname and return to her paladin roots before the events of Endwalker.• She is an avid wanderer and traveler, and spends most of her time helping whoever she comes across.• She can’t tolerate spicy food at all. Even the tiniest amount will send her into a coughing fit.• Her favorite foods are warm and hearty meals like stew or soups. She is also a fan of creamy and sweet things.• The only food she knows how to make is eggs. She is horrible at cooking and gave herself food poisoning when she attempted to make herself a meal once.• Milk is one of her favorite drinks• She has a surprisingly good singing voice. The only way you would ever know is if you asked her about it, as she rarely ever sings.
